14 Ways to Show Your Small Business Love When Work is Slow
The start of 2025 reminds me of a drippy faucet.
A trickle of work communications and writing projects keeps me busy, but not as much as I’d like. After chatting with other freelancers and small business owners, I know I’m not the only one experiencing a slow start to the new year.
But, I’m staying busy!
I’m intentionally showing my small business extra love in the first few weeks of the year by working ON my business more than usual. Why? There’s always admin work and tasks sitting on the back burner, and let me tell you, cleaning up the backlog of to-dos feels darn good.
Here’s how I’m nurturing my small business. Maybe you could benefit from a few of these tasks too!
1. Share your work on social media.
When I get busy writing, editing and meeting deadlines, I often don’t have time to tell my social media audience what I’ve been working on and share published links.
Lately, I’ve been catching up on this.
In turn, this plants seeds for future collaborations since readers (including editors and others who hire me) are learning about the type of work I do — with samples!
